From exotic beaches at Andaman to vibrant Thar desert, from Himalayan peaks to wildlife in national parks, India has it all. The country's natural beauty makes is a global tourist attraction. With a culture that worships flora and fauna, including the dwindling Mangrove trees, it is our duty to protect and preserve our heritage.
GREEN TRAVELLING Now the main question is how to do this? If you travel, you will leave a charcoal smudge in your wake. You can’t help it. Planes spew carbon emissions, hotels guzzle gallons of water to launder sheets and thirsty travelers chug-a-lug plastic bottles of water. But don’t let the guilt dampen your vacation. Eco-friendly travel practices can lift the remorse and lighten the blemish on Mother Nature. Green travel is not a passing trend but a portable lifestyle choice. “Sustainable travel is all about creating a positive effect on the communities you visit, leave the place better than you found it.”- said Jon Bruno. When your plans coincide with your eco-interests, you make the world better but each of your experience a unique one. |

- WALKING, CYCLING AND USING ELECTRIC VEHICLES ARE EXAMPLES OF WHAT WE CALL GREEN TRAVELLING. GREEN TRAVELLING IS BASICALLY USING ANYTHING THAT DOESN'T HARM THE ENVIRONMENT.
- GREEN TRAVELLING IS IMPORTANT BECAUSE IT REDUCES THE CARBON FOOTPRINT WHICH FURTHER HELPS PRESERVING LIFE.
- INSTEAD OF TAKING CABS WE WALKED A LOT (ALMOST 8KMS A DAY!) AND WE PREFERRED CYCLING OVER MOST TRANSPORTS AVAILABLE.
- CAB SERVICES SHOULD PREFER USING ELECTRIC CARS OVER PETROL AND DIESEL.
- ACCORDING TO ME, GREEN TRAVELLING IS TRAVELLING WITH THE INTENT OF NOT POLLUTING THE ENVIRONMENT. IT MEANS THAT WHILE TRAVELLING I USE ECO-FRIENDLY MATERIALS AND DO EVERYTHING POSSIBLE TO NOT POLLUTE THE ENVIRONMENT AS A TRAVELLER AS A LOT OF IT IS CAUSED BY LITTERING.
- AS CITIZENS OF THE WORLD WE NEED TO BE CONCIOUS ABOUT THE ECOLOGICAL BALANCE OF OUR ENVIRONMENT AND BE RESPONSIBLE TOWARDS MAINTANING IT.
- ONE OF THE THINGS I AM MINDFUL OF IS NOT TRASH PLASTIC WATER BOTTLES WHILE TRAVELLING, I'M CONCIOUS OF TURNING OFF LIGHTS AND AC's WHEN LEAVING A HOTEL ROOM. I MAKE SURE TO REUSE THE TOWELS AND BEDSHEETS, WE ALSO WALK OR USE PUBLIC TRANSPORT AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE.
- I THINK TRAVEL COMPANIES CAN ENCOURAGE CUSTOMERS TO STAY AT ECO-FRIENDLY HOTELS, USE PUBLIC TRANSPORT RATHER THAN CARS TO MINIMIZE CARBON FOOTPRINT. THEY CAN ALSO ENCOURAGE TRAVELLERS TO AVOIS LITTERING WHILE ON THE MOVE.

1. What is an ecotel hotel?
1. What is an ecotel hotel?
- Any hotel that inculcates green ethics in their workspace, planning and architecture is an ecotel hotel.
- Even though at the start it might be costly, over the long run it will be more efficient in terms of cost and for the environment. An ecotel hotel is mainly built with saving energy in mind. So we have made huge windows for natural light so as to not use artificial light. We conserve energy and water by using the heat dispensed from AC as hot water. The papers used for various purposes are 50% recycled with a certification from the vendor.
- Every start-up initiative is initially costly but yes, over the long run the cost will surely reduce.
- With the impending dangers to the environment, we need to adapt and change our ways to preserve and protect it. Tourism has a great impact on the environment, hotels also having a major role in it. So yes, there is a growing need for ecotel hotels which aim for sustainability and protection of our environment.

SUMMARy
We had to interview 5 teachers in all. The responses were varied. One of the teachers lives in Delhi so she uses the metro every day. Two of the teachers walk to school and the last two come by car. So in percentage 60% used eco friendly methods of travelling. All the teachers said similar things in response to the question 'What do you understand by the term green trips'. Green travelling according to them was travelling using eco friendly methods and not polluting the environment while travelling. The reason we interviewed teachers was because teachers come from different distances to the same place. There are also various ages in this profession. So we got a variety of responses

SUMMARY
We got a variety of responses. Many of the students had a general idea of what green trips are(as the name is self explanatory). We also gave them some information on their impact and importance. This was done mainly to spread awareness of eco-friendly travelling. Many of the students were from the same school(about 6/10) and lived about 5-45 minutes away from the school. The ones that lived close by came either by walking or cycling with the exception of 2 students. The others came either by car or by bus. In conclusion 20% of the students used car, 50% walked/cycled and the remaining 30% went by bus. This shows that 80% of the students that we interviewed were already unknowingly following green travel. The interviewed students were honest, precise and eager to know more about the topic

SUMMARY
We took interviews of 5 people; out of which 2 use the local train, 1 person uses the bus and the remaining 2 use the mumbai metro. railway/local train, being the cheapest, safest and one of the most efficient public transport is a widely used mode of transportation. this is mostly used by the working population of india. whereas on the other hand, buses are used by kids to go to school and by th working class and old people. the metro, although being one of the cleanest, quickest and well-maintained mode of transportation is still under construction. from the interviews we concluded has a far and wide reach, is safe and is cheap. thus they are used by a large section pf the population. Nevertheless, the trains and the buses can improve their efficiency by being more organised and better maintained.

OUR DIARIES
PART 3 : COMMUNICATION
b) Comparison
Our websites both are quite informative and up to point. However, The Nehalennia School is not reader friendly, because they have assumed that reader already knows about Green Trips, our Website explains the meaning of green trips, its execution, etc. This makes is clear to the reader. The Nehalennia has done a good job at presenting their website by keeping it simple, ours however is designed to attract viewers by using colours that pop. Both of our websites are informative but ours is much user friendly, but we thunk it is much better being simpler because the reader probably might not be interested in reading the whole page if it was long. However, we hope that most readers do read our webpage completely because it conveys a message in making the world a better place.
Part 4: a) REFLECTION
Rashi: EUMIND has been an interesting journey, I have a new perspective on saving the environment, EUMIND has shown us how we can lead ourselves to a better future. As the weebly designer, I designed the webpage, the design was Elegant and simple. Most readers find long paragraphs boring Hence, It is as simple as possible so the reader does not get bored and The point is conveyed. Hence, it went well. The design I Have chosen is well optimized and efficient so I don't think I would have done it differently, but If I had the chance and the better facilities such as a better website platform I could have worked on the presentation. Lastly, i would like to thank EUMIND to give me this wonderful opportunity which allowed me to use my skills to help spread a good message.
Agastya: As the video editor of the team, I also helped teammates with their work, including editing the website, filling the forms and helping with the interviews. I Edit videos as a hobby which I started with the idea of making people happy, I am happy to know that my videos can make an impact on people for a good cause. EUMIND has taught me to care about the environment more than I have than before. I am thankful to my principal and my teachers for giving me this wonderful opportunity to make an effort in making a better future. Live long and prosper!
Abhinav: We chose the topic green trips because we did not know much about it and we wanted to research the topic and also make other people aware about it. The topic was very interesting and all of us learnt a lot from it. We have become more aware of the power of green tourism and also the impact of tourism on the nation's economy. I spent a lot of time designing our webpage as that was my main role in the team. I conducted our Google meets and made sure everyone attended. I thank EUMIND for giving me this opportunity.
Bhargavi: EUMIND has been a great experience for me. I learnt a lot of leadership skills along the way. My group was cooperative and we worked well together. I learnt how to build a webpage from scratch and I also improved my e-skills a lot. As a group leader, it was my responsibility to communicate all the instructions given by the teachers to my groupmates. I also had to usher my group to complete all the allotted work before the deadlines. As a member of the team, it was my responsibility to put up all the written documents on the webpage. I also had to design our webpage along with another member. Our group had managed to divide the tasks equally and fairly among ourselves so none of us were burdened. Overall it was an eye-opening experience and I'm sure EUMIND will keep coming up with new and interesting topics for the coming years.
Nandini: EUMIND has been a great journey for me. I have learnt a lot. My group and I have worked hard. EUMIND has made me come out of my shell and has made me confident. It was my job as an interviewer to talk to people and find out about their take on our topic-green trips. I have also researched about our topic as green trips was a relatively new topic for me. We struggled with time management in the beginning and if I had the opportunity to do our project all over again, I would manage our time better. I think my teammates will also agree. After we learnt how to meet the deadlines on time, things went smoothly. Thank you EUMIND for giving me this opportunity!
