I DON’T WANT TO PROTECT THE ENVIRONMENT; |
The world is getting overwhelmed by the waste generated from overproduction. Pictures of mounds of thrown away material, and perfectly reusable things - be it plastics or food - are ubiquitous. That is on the one hand. On the other hand, there is much lack and yearning for those same things in another part of society. Hunger, starvation, improperly packaged and poorly transported materials resulting in wastage, re-production because what was made the first time was not used properly - these are just as real as the overproduction and subsequent waste generation.
Some people are travelling wastefully - one person in a gas-guzzling SUV for a short, walkable distance - while others have no means of transportation - children walking miles each way to school, often barefooted. The chasm between the have-too-much and the don’t-have-enough is widening, and gaping at us. Hiranandani Foundation School, Powai, has been actively involved in this initiative for the last several years, even winning awards for our active contribution towards recycling initiatives. The Go Green project scenarios of EUMIND is a positive vector that gives our initiatives even greater fillip in the same direction. |
